from getinstyler.com:
"It's not a brush. It's not a flat iron. It's not a curling iron. It's the InStyler® rotating hot iron!
The InStyler® rotating hot iron is a totally new styling and straightening tool unlike any hair styling product ever invented!
The secret to the InStyler® iron lies in its rotating heated polishing cylinder, along with four rows of precision-aligned bristles.
Here's how it works: when you run the InStyler® rotating hot iron through your hair, the first set of bristles gently sort and separate your hair strands. Then the rotating heated polishing cylinder gently glides over your hair, smoothly polishing, straightening, and styling each strand. Finally, the second set of bristles puts the finishing touch on your hair, leaving you with shiny, silky, hair! It's truly amazing!
And the best part is, because of the InStyler® rotating hot iron's patented design, your hair won't get smashed and baked by the super-intense heat of a flat iron or other "hot" tools. In fact, the InStyler® rotating hot iron uses less heat than traditional hot tools, and delivers better results. How? Because the InStyler® rotating hot iron's gentle heat in conjunction with the rotating motion of the polishing cylinder literally polishes your hair strands individually so it doesn't need extreme heat to get amazing results.
Your hair will be shinier, bouncier and full of lift and life!
Plus, the InStyler® rotating hot iron does so much more than any styling tool out there. Get lift and fullness – right from the root! Get a sexy flip in seconds. Straighten even the toughest, most coarse hair – and still get fullness and style without the stick-straight "flatness" of a flat iron. Do a full style in 8 minutes… and change it again in two minutes! Wrap your hair around the rotating polishing cylinder – and get an amazing curl that lasts all day!
If you can hold it, you can do it with the InStyler® rotating hot iron!"
People seem to be of one of three minds when it comes to infomercials:
1. They watch them avidly and buy every product they offer.
2. They watch them avidly and only buy once in a blue moon.
3. They don't watch, they don't buy and they don't care.
Personally, I'm number 2. I enjoy watching informercials (beauty-related ones in particular) but the combination of lack of funds and general cynicism keeps me from buying.
I will admit that I was drawn to the Instyler ad. The Instyler is a heated 'iron' with a round barrel that rotates and an attached brush. It can be used for straightening or curling. The ad shows a lot of women who start out with frizzy, flyaway hair but end up with silky smooth, shiny locks. Since having a professional blow-dry recently, I have become obsessed with smoothing my hair. But would my curly/wavy/frizzy locks be as tamed as those shown on TV?
Happily, the answer is YES! The Instyler works and it is very easy to use. As someone who has never mastered the round brush technique, I was amazed to how quickly I picked up the Instyler tecnique and how effective it was. The Instyler has 3 heat settings (I use the hottest because my hair is thick), heats up quickly and works fast. It did take me some time for me to feel at ease using the Instyler (and making sure I kept that hot barrel away from places it didn't belong- like my scalp or my fingers), but right now I feel like a pro (or at least a semi-pro). After a lifetime of hair appliances that I never was able to operate, it's great to have on that I can! It really does smooth out my bumps and make my hair shinier. I can even use it to curl my ends under or over (though that did take a little practice).
You can purchase the Instyler from their infomercial or website, from QVC.com (where it's on backorder) or at several e-tailers including Amazon.com. The average retail is between US$80 and $90. If you suffer from frizzies like I do, I suggest you give it a try. For me, it's a winner.
