I flashed by HSN one day, surfing the tube. The product they were showing stopped me.
A tool that will assist me in trimming/cutting my own hair. And, HSN was offering it for $19.95+s&h. I have handed some stylists at least that amount plus more!
No. Too good to be true.
The once or twice I've tried cutting my hair were always diasters & had me running to the 1st salon I could find. I just couldn't get the hair to stay still. Or, it was never even, or my bangs would look chopped.
So, I faced the fact that I could not use just scissors & my fingers & scotch tape, hair spray, all the ways I tried to keep the hair from moving. And, I couldn't see straight. **hangs head in shame**
After a minute or three, I remembered RESEARCH!!
I've got a 30 day guarantee, can review it for the Vine, And, dare I hope...it could possibly work!!!
This not just your basic hair clip. The smaller, straight one has already paid for itself as I can use it every week to keep my bangs the right length. They are the same all the time. I don't look like the shaggy dog neither do I look like someone who had a bowl on her head & chopped around it.
I received 2 clips in the package.
One white, long, rounded edge for the back of your hair & the smaller aqua one for bangs & smaller sections of hair. I also received an instruction sheet. There was lots of info, most I already knew , but please read your instructions first.
I already have a nice pair of hair cutting scissors.
When you first get the clips, you'll notice the closure is very strong & tight. There are lots of little teeth inside the clip. This is what holds the hair still. There is also a small level, like a carpenter's level on the outside to help those who can't see straight get it even. After I close the clip, my hair doesn't go anywhere & I have both hands available.
After my first Bang trim, no sweat, good looking bangs & no chopped off look, that was it.
After getting used to using it for my bangs, I decided to give the back a try. Following the instrutions,
while thinking I could go to a salon if need be, I made the cut. Then I took a deep breath & looked in the mirror for a full view.
I have cut my own hair!
I felt like the 1st woman to reach some peak & wanted to plant a flag showing my my hair.
It really was a good feeling. Now, if I want to take an inch off I don't have to cringe when another person decides 2 inches is better & cuts off too much!
I no longer need to hear some stylist say 'I'm a beautician; not a Magician' when I ask for feathered bangs that look like they haven't just been cut I can do it myself.
These are no longer avalable at HSN & the only place I've found them is their own website, posted below.
The cost is higher, however, how much to you spend on hair cuts if you've got kids?
I checked the website just before this & the cost is $29.99 USD plus $6.95 s&h.
Mine has already paid for itself.
There's a good slideshow on the website.
I totally love this set. I may get another.
5 bloomin' flowers for this find!
