I have truly sensitive skin, and it is so difficult to find a scrub that doesn't irritate or overclean it. My former facialist used to have a come up with a concoction (that I couldn't buy, unfortunately) that was gentle enough for my skin. For the previous year I've been using the Laura Mercier facial scrub, but never all that often because it was still a wee bit too harsh. Enter my fantastic Spring Fling package from Greengirl! She included a sample packet of Bobbi Brown Buffing Grains and I was hooked. I purchased my own full size product soon after using up the sample packet.
Buffing Grains are housed in a small glass jar, with a small hole the grains pour out of once the lid is removed. I like the packaging. The hole isn't so small you're waiting forever for the grains to come out, but isn't so large that a large amount of product comes out and is wasted. I pour a shallow nickel-size amount on my hand in the shower, and use it to scrub, scrub, scrub my face. Buffing Grains rinse cleanly but you need to be sure to remove all grains as one of these in your eye would be very painful. My skin looks refreshed after using Buffing Grains, and isn't red or irritated looking in the least. Sometimes a stray blemish or 2 will pop up after using scrubs, and this does happen on occasion with Buffing Grains but nothing excessive.
I guess my one complaint is the price. $40.00 USD is pretty steep for a .99 oz jar of product. Buffing Grains are formulated with Japanese Adzuki Beans and is similar to a Body Shop facial scrub I used years ago that retailed for much less. (To be fair, it was almost 20 years ago that I used their discontinued product and their grains were a little different--slightly less scrubby.) I do gladly award Buffing Grains four flowers and am enjoying this new addition to my skincare regiment. You can find Buffing Grains at the Bobbi Brown website or your local Bobbi Brown counter.
