Being the mom of a dancer, we need to tan her legs frequently for competitions.
I have done the gels, the lotions, the creams, the sprays, high end, low end. I came to the conclusion that the sprays seemed to work best but they were so expensive. The one I really liked was from Model in a Bottle, called Tan in a Can but it was outrageous in price.
In my search for a tanning product that left her legs dark, her dress un-marred by stains or bronzer and was in a decent price range, I came upon Salon Bronze.
Salon Bronze looks like a "gun" type of airbrush system. It's really nothing more than a gun holder for a pressurized cannister of some pretty darn good tanner!
The initial set is about $12.99 at Sally Beauty. It includes a "gun" and a can of the product. Subsequent cans are about $7.99, which is all you need to buy from then on in.
After clicking the cartridge into the gun, shake and spray away. The mist comes out light and airy, but you can see where it's going thanks to the light bronzer that it has.
I found there is much less streaking than usual with this, even from other sprays. It's not oily but also not too dry. After spraying the area to be tanned, I do still go over it with my hands, smoothing it all in.
Salon Bronze does dry down fairly fast. I spray outside (the spray does fly around, like most aerosols) and blend outside. I wouldn't want to wait to blend inside. Some people use an old sheet and do it inside with a mirror but I've had good luck doing it this way in the warmer weather here.
After one coat, letting it dry and waiting a few hours, I was left with lightly golden bronze skin. You can tell I tanned but it's not over the top.
Now for my daughter and friends, who dance, I spray once, let it dry, spray again, and then maybe do that one more time depending on their skin tone. Great results with the girls so far.
My dream of owning a real machine one day, but in the meantime, Salon Bronze has me bronzed up tip to toe for decent money and great results.
