Since my review of Fresh Rose Lip tint, I never fell out of love with the pink shade. When Fresh and Sephora launched an exclusive Beauty Insider release of Sugar Plum Lip Tint, I was a goner. Usually, I don’t order online as I like to swatch, touch, and investigate items in person. For this, I made an exception.
Fresh Sugar Plum Lip Tint with SPF 15 is a dark sheer blackberry shade. Along the lines of Clinique Black Honey (which goes to a reddish plum on me, the Fresh tends to blacker true plum). It’s deep toned and many lovers of the Rose shade won’t like the darkness of the burgundy color. But for lovers of a bold lip, brunettes who dig dark plums, or fans of Twilight and want a slightly Goth look, it is perfect!
The scent and taste is very “Fresh”: fruity and lemony. Scent adverse cosmetic users will really not like this one.
Texture is soft and shiny. You don’t get a long lasting stain from this product or a long lasting lip color. It’s a balm though, and moisturizers decently enough.
My quibble with the texture is that the “balm bullet” is very soft. I kept this in a pants pocket during a recent meeting (for five hours or so) and the bullet turned slightly squishy and hard to apply. Warning: melt factor is high on this lovely.
Since I lean towards loving the Fresh tinted balm lineup, I will award a B-. The Sugar Plum is not going to be as universally loved by everyone as the Rose shade is, plus the inability to keep in a pocket makes it not my “go to” balm.
The Sugar Plum Tint lip balm has now been introduced into the brick and mortar Sephora locations so you can take a look at the Fresh offering for yourself. At $22.50 for a .15 oz tube, this is an extravagant tinted lip balm choice but one I would repurchase again (and have - I lost my original and since I was in a store, picked up a replacement quickly!)
