As with my choices for nail color for my hands, I tend to choose understated shades for my feet. At the same time, I like to use color that goes a step beyond a no-show neutral for a more lively effect. For reference, by skin tone is medium-Asian, and my feet appear somewhat “tan” even when they are not, though I do tan easily (despite my sun vigilance and sunscreen applications). I have used “Copperglaze Platinum” by Revlon over the years, for both hands and feet, and I bought my latest bottle a few months ago. The color name makes sense to me, because I see the color as what I imagine molten copper and molten platinum would look like if they were mixed. To my eye, it is a neutral, frosty color, as though the copper’s orange tones are canceled-out by the platinum’s silvery tones. Revlon has an amazing color selection, and I ruled out other colors that were darker, more bronze, or more taupe in favor of the “just right” Copperglaze Platinum. It goes with everything, and the frost finish dresses up my feet nicely for summer.
One coat of Copperglaze Platinum applies with semi-sheer coverage. For my hands, it is more coverage than I want, because I prefer very sheer fingernail colors these days. For my feet, the coverage is just opaque enough for me, because, frankly, I’m not as picky with my toenails as with my fingernails. Others might well prefer two coats. I always do my own pedicures, and Copperglaze Platinum works well for me because it’s not the type of color that will require immediate touch-ups as it wears.
Compared with the Sheer formula (see my 2008 review), this frost formula is creamier and thicker, but it remains very easy to apply. Like many frosts, it tends to have a streaky finish if rushed, but generally speaking, the finish is very good. The durability is quite good on its own, but as with any nail color, it benefits greatly by a top coat. One coat without top coat lasts about one week on my toes before the color starts looking noticeably worn. With a top coat, the durability basically doubles to just over two weeks.
I award five flowers to Copperglaze Platinum. Revlon Nail Enamel is widely available at drugstores and mass-merchandise stores and is reasonably-priced. I bought mine for around US$3 on special offer, but full-price is probably around US$5 or so.
